Why did you want to get involved with Images for a Cure?
I have been incredibly blessed in my life and career to have some amazing women as guides and mentors. One of the things I learned from them was the importance of being an active part of your community – whether that community be your neighborhood, your town, your school or your world. I firmly believe that it is important to pay it forward, take care of each other and try to make a small impact on the lives of those who live around you. As the lead photographer at Arkansas Sports Photography I have always made an intentional and conscious effort to support the lives of the people I photograph, their schools and their communities while at the same time trying to take care of my own family. Images for a Cure is simply a wonderful and timely extension of that effort.
How has Breast Cancer (or any cancer) made an impact on your life?
One of the women who made an early and lasting impression on who I am today was my grandmother Maxine. Describing her as an “active part of her community” would be an understatement. She set an amazing example for me, we were incredibly close and, since her death to breast cancer in 1994, not a day goes by that I don’t think of her and smile. She is with me always.
Tell us something fun about you
While I am the ultimate Razorback fan (honest to goodness one of my first sentences was “Wooo Pig Sooie”) I think a fun tidit about me is that I am the “person” to the most beautiful and caring boxer, Bear Bryant. Yes, Bear Bryant was the legendary coach of Alabama, but did you know that he was born in Arkansas? My boxer is definitely not an Alabama fan. If Bear the Boxer could he would happily follow me to every sporting event I photograph and is quite often the subject of my photography. He is the best dog ever, one of my best buds and even has his own Facebook page!
Details of their sessions:
On Sunday, October 11, 2009, Arkansas Sports Photography will be donating 100% of its session fees to the goal of the Breast Cancer Research Fund – raising funds for research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer in our lifetime.
Since the majority of our photography focuses on youth, high school and college athletics in Arkansas, we have quite a large gallery of photos featuring Arkansas athletes ranging from 6 years to 60 years of age. To further the cause of Images for A Cure, we will donate half of the proceeds from Arkansas Sports Photography sport gallery sales the weekend of October 9th to the support of BCRF. To see our gallery, visit http://arsportsphoto.zenfolio.com to helping the Breast Cancer Research Fund find a cure.
