Images for a Cure was started in August of 2009 as a small idea by Orlando based wedding and fashion photographer, Kristen Weaver. A small brainchild turned in to an international event of large proportion, joining 239 photographers across 3 countries to raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Thanks to the contribution of these photographers, all donating 100% of their session fees for one day, along with the support of 21 industry sponsors, Images for a Cure raised $12,900 at the conclusion of their 2009 event.
2010 proved to be a challenging and transitional year for Images for a Cure. Legally incorporated, with new logos, branding and a new website, the company had dedicated itself more than ever to reaching life-changing goals for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. A team of photographers based in Orlando have joined together to tirelessly promote the participation of photographers and sponsors. New tier-based participation levels has been introduced, and the commitment of our photographers has been inspiring. Our goal to form a united group of photographers actively supporting a single cause has been realized, and as a unit, we were stronger than ever! The introduction of our first workshop in Spring 2011 encouraged us to promote the event year-round and new, exciting opportunities for partnerships with our sponsors promote unity and support among the industry.
Thanks to the contribution of 255 photographers, along with the support of countless industry sponsors, Images for a Cure raised $15,343 at the conclusion of their 2010 event; bringing our grand total to $28,243!
2012 is our fourth annual event and we’re more excited than ever at the past success! We continue to grow, seeing each photographer challenge themselves to a higher standard of commitment. We are so proud of our team and the success of our fundraising efforts! We’re planning regional committees to help organize events and work together to expand our group. We’ll also be seeing the third workshop, coming off of the outstanding success of our first workshop in March 2011, and our previous workshop in March 2012.
As Images for a Cure looks towards the future, we plan to file official non-profit status, as well as see our event grow and expand. We’re constantly looking to grow our network of photographers and sponsors, and hope to bring in other vendors to see our cause make waves in the industry!
We will forever be growing, changing and moving forward. Not only as photographers, but as artists, creators and friends.
Images for a Cure is an annual event promoting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, our beneficiary charity. The event normally takes place during the fall (usually October, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month).
Photographers may register to participate during the months of August and September and are placed on the Find a Photographer page of the website. Logos, buttons and marketing materials are made available to them to promote the event individually.
Each photography studio is unique, and encouraged to set their own session dates, plans and pricing. However, they each agree to donate 100% of their session fees for that day to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, via our FirstGiving page. Some photographers may open 1 session, while others may open 5 – so be sure to check with your photographer about their availability and what is included in your session.
When you schedule your session with a participating photographer, you should be directed back to this website to make your donation. Upon receipt of your confirmation email, you should forward it to your photographer to confirm your session time. All session fees must be paid within 24 hours of booking your session, in order to be fair to others who wish to participate.
That’s all there is to it! You have your session and enjoy beautiful images from your photographer, all while giving back to a great organization!
